Kathleen + Dave’s Baltimore AVAM Wedding | 9.22.18

They had me at AVAM….when Dave’s mother, Bobbi, called to ask me to photograph his wedding, I really could hardly contain my excitement. First of all, it was such an honor to be remembered as the photographer who took his sister’s wedding photos when she was married here on the Eastern Shore several years ago. The Liebenberg family had remained one of my fondest wedding memories from that alone. In fact, if Katie would only move here, it wouldn’t be a minute too soon!

So, you see how being asked to shoot Dave and Kathleen’s wedding was such a welcome treat. But, it gets even better- add in that they had chosen what I believe to be one of the absolute coolest places ANYWHERE for a wedding- The American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, and I just knew that they were going to continue the tradition of fantastic couples having fantastic weddings.

And they didn’t disappoint! From the rehearsal dinner to the last of the reception, it was an amazing day and night. Dave and Kathleen shared their First Look atop Federal Hill, a place near and dear to my heart and also, arguably, the best skyline view in town. The museum is a short walk from there so we took advantage of some of the unique features there including the replica of Baltimore stoop, steps and painted screens. Such fun!

At the ceremony, held in a courtyard between buildings, you could literally feel the love. I think that the photo of Dave’s uncles clapping after everyone yelled “Mazeltov!” shows just how enthusiastic the guests were at that moment.

From there, guests enjoyed a lovely cocktail hour in the “barn” (what a ceiling!) and finally made their way to the reception room to continue the festivities.

Things I loved: Kathleen’s dress and beaded shoes. A showstopper. Dave’s pink tie, ok I love pink ties…, and their smiles during their First Look. It was as if there was no one in the park but them. The cute little flower girls and ring bearer. Dave’s mother’s wonderful and heartfelt speech at the rehearsal dinner and his dad’s at the reception. The mother/son dance. Bobbi’s face the ENTIRE night. Kathleen and her friends dancing and just enjoying the celebration. Seeing Katie’s adorable kids. I could go on and on…
